I have been tutoring children in London for over ten years in many subjects, well over three thousand hours. I now focus on History and Business Studies (GCSE to university), and Economics (GCSE to A-Level). I am an examiner for History with the AQA, OCR, and CIE exam boards. Biography
I am qualified to tutor in both Business subjects (which includes Economics) and also History.
In my earlier academic days, I attended top Canadian universities and earned an undergraduate degree in Commerce, an MBA in Finance & Marketing, and then a Law degree (LLB). My first career was as a commercial solicitor. I was also called as a solicitor in England & Wales besides in Canada. My education and work experience to that point was focused on business. I have been tutoring Business and Economics since 2013. I have been an Examiner for A-Level and GCSE Business for ten years. I have marked over 1,000 Business papers for AQA, OCR and CIE. I know all of the Business and Economics exam boards extremely well. My students tend to earn top grades. Recent students in Business have progressed to Business degrees at Durham, Bristol, Bath, KCL, LSE, IE Madrid, HEC Paris, and Notre-Dame, UPenn and Babson in the USA.
In 2013 I returned to academia and completed a Masters in History from the University of London in 2014. I finished my DPhil in History at Oxford (Balliol College) in 2021. I have been an A- Level Examiner for AQA, OCR and CIE for the last decade and have marked over 2,000 papers. I understand what is needed to write excellent answers on exams and coursework. My history students progress to the world's best universities. Recent students are now at Oxford, Cambridge, Durham and UCL.
My passion has always been to teach and I decided to leave law to return to studies with the goal of becoming a full-time tutor. I do my best to engage my students and know how to make learning enjoyable, meaningful, and effective.
Approach to Tutoring
I understand that each student is different and teaching methods have to be adapted to suit the individual. I search for the student's strengths and weaknesses and do my best to bring out the best in each. As a father of five adult girls, I know the challenges that a parent faces when looking for academic improvement in their children. Breaking down the barriers to comprehension and making the learning experience fun and rewarding is how I approach teaching.
When not tutoring
I enjoy traveling throughout England, Europe, and North America. I am also an avid reader and enjoy a wide array of subjects from biographies to English literature. I also enjoy spending time with my family. I am also in the final stages of completing my second book.
