My journey in tutoring commenced during my university years, and I have accumulated over 9 years of invaluable experience guiding students at various academic levels. Biography

Hello, my name is Sofia and I am an experienced tutor with almost a decade of experience, specialising in English, humanities subjects, interview preparation and 11+ admissions. Alongside my tutoring work, I am reading my PhD in English Literature and work as a professional theatre director inc West End, the RSC and Shakespeare's Globe.

I was born in Warwickshire to Italian parents. I gained a double first in English Literature and Drama at the University of Exeter where I am now reading my PhD.

Approach to Tutoring

Throughout my years of tutoring students across various age groups, I've discovered that optimal outcomes stem from nurturing a burgeoning interest, curiosity, confidence, and passion for the subject matter. I make it a priority to instil curiosity in students, even in their most challenging subjects, with the goal of fostering enthusiasm for growth, learning, and a deeper understanding of the material. As a tutor, I embody patience and a positive outlook, approaching each session with a sunny disposition. My teaching methodology is characterised by a personalised touch, as I strive to comprehend and adapt to the unique needs of each student.

When not tutoring

I am a freelance theatre director! I have most recently directed at the RSC, prior to that at Shakespeare's Globe and the West End musical, SIX.

In addition to tutoring and directing, I am a keen runner, running both marathons and ultra marathons all around the world!
