I have more than 20 years of experience in education and teaching, working with learners from primary school through to postgraduate and professional level. My experience spans private tutoring, primary and secondary schools, Special Educational Needs settings, conservation education and higher education.
I have been tutoring privately for more than five years, both online and in person, and have delivered more than 1,000 hours of online tuition to students in the UK and internationally.
I specialise in:
• Biology: GCSE, IGCSE, A-level and IB Biology (SL and HL)
• Chemistry: GCSE, IGCSE, A-level and IB Biology (SL and HL)
• Psychology: GCSE, IGCSE, A-level and IB Biology (SL and HL)
• 11+ and 13+ entrance-examinations
• Homeschool support
• Exam preparation, revision and resits
• Study skills and independent learning
• Independent research and university applications
I have extensive experience with many examination boards, including:
• Pearson Edexcel
• AQA
• OCR
• Cambridge specifications
In Psychology, I have particular experience supporting students with research methods, application, evaluation and essay writing.
I have worked with students from a wide range of schools and academic backgrounds, including leading UK independent schools such as Eton, St Paul’s, Harrow and Charterhouse, as well as international schools. I support students who are looking to consolidate their understanding, prepare for examinations, improve their confidence or stretch themselves beyond the standard curriculum.
Alongside private tutoring, I have taught at the Royal Veterinary College since 2011, delivering lectures and small-group teaching on Master's programmes and supervising MSc and PhD research projects. I have also delivered university teaching and professional training in the UK and Europe, and have supervised and mentored students and early-career researchers.
I have particular experience supporting neurodiverse learners, including students with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyscalculia and dyspraxia. My earlier work in primary and secondary schools, together with my research into child development and neurodevelopmental conditions, has given experience of adapting teaching to different learning needs.
My tutoring combines this broad teaching experience with substantial academic and research experience. This allows me to support students not only with subject knowledge and examination technique, but also with confidence, independent learning and longer-term academic development.
I currently work full-time as a private tutor while also co-running a specialist wildlife health consultancy, where I provide scientific advice and training to conservation organisations. This keeps me actively engaged with current scientific research and provides plenty of real-world examples that I can bring into my teaching. I am a member of the Royal Society of Biology and Royal Society of Chemistry and remain actively involved in professional development and the wider scientific community.
